Motocross Gloves Design & Manufacturing Guide

Motorcycle Off-Road Gloves for Motocross & Enduro Riding

Motocross gloves are developed for riders who require responsive handlebar control, unrestricted finger movement and reliable grip during demanding off-road riding. Compared with road-racing or touring gloves, motocross gloves generally use a lighter and more flexible construction with greater emphasis on ventilation, dexterity and direct contact with the motorcycle controls.

Our development process begins by defining the intended riding application, target rider, required fit and level of protection. Glove patterns are engineered around the natural hand position used while gripping the handlebars. Pre-curved fingers and correctly shaped thumbs help minimise material bunching when operating the throttle, front brake and clutch.

Finger length, palm width, thumb rotation and wrist opening are carefully balanced to produce a close fit without restricting movement. Stretch finger gussets and flexible backhand panels can be incorporated to support rapid hand movements and improve airflow between the fingers.

Motocross gloves normally use a short cuff that fits securely around the wrist without interfering with jersey sleeves or protective equipment. Closure options include hook-and-loop straps, moulded wrist tabs and elasticated cuff sections.

Additional design options include pull tabs, silicone grip details, touchscreen-compatible fingertips, flexible knuckle panels and reinforced thumb areas. Every prototype is evaluated for grip sensitivity, finger mobility, wrist security and overall comfort before bulk-production approval.

Materials & Protection

Motocross gloves must balance low weight, flexibility, ventilation and durability. Depending on the required performance and price point, gloves can be manufactured using stretch polyester, mesh, micro-ripstop fabric, neoprene, synthetic suede, microfibre, goatskin leather or hybrid material combinations.

The backhand commonly uses lightweight stretch fabric to support movement and airflow. Mesh finger gussets or perforated sections can be incorporated to improve ventilation during warm-weather riding.

Palm construction has a significant influence on handlebar feel and durability. Lightweight performance gloves may use a single-layer synthetic suede or microfibre palm, while more durable models can include padded sections, double-layer reinforcement or overlays around the thumb and other high-wear areas. Current motocross gloves commonly combine single-layer palms, stretch backhands and ventilated finger gussets to support control and dexterity.

Silicone printing can be added to the fingers or palm to improve contact with the levers and grips. Protective options may include flexible TPR or TPU knuckle panels, finger protection, padded palm areas and reinforced thumb patches.

Construction options include reinforced seams, bartacks at stress points, seamless or reduced-seam palm layouts and secure wrist closures. The final combination is developed according to the intended use, desired protection, retail price and certification objective.

OEM / ODM & Private Label Manufacturing

Glaze provides OEM, ODM and private-label manufacturing services for brands developing custom motocross and off-road motorcycle gloves. Customers may supply technical packs, drawings, reference samples, hand measurements, graphics or an initial design concept.

Our product-development team can assist with glove-pattern engineering, material selection, palm construction, reinforcement placement, cuff development and branding. Gloves can be developed as standalone products or coordinated with motocross jerseys, pants and complete off-road collections.

Every component can be customised, including backhand materials, palm construction, colours, finger gussets, ventilation, protective panels, wrist closures and touchscreen functionality. Product options may include lightweight race gloves, reinforced enduro gloves, trail-riding gloves, cold-weather off-road gloves and youth motocross gloves.

Backhand graphics can be applied using sublimation, screen printing, silicone transfers, rubber details or embroidery depending on the material and design. Additional private-label options include moulded wrist tabs, branded closures, size labels, care labels, hangtags, barcode stickers and custom packaging.

Men’s, women’s and youth patterns can be developed according to customer-specific hand measurements and size charts. Prototype sampling allows the customer to evaluate fit, grip, flexibility, graphic placement and material performance before approving bulk production.

Minimum Order Quantity & Production

Every motocross glove project begins with a review of the design, size range, materials, palm construction, protective features and branding requirements. Prototype development is recommended before bulk production so the customer can evaluate finger length, palm fit, handlebar feel, wrist security and overall appearance.

Standard production generally begins from 50 pairs per design. The final minimum order quantity depends on material availability, colour combinations, custom graphics, moulded components, branded wrist closures and packaging requirements.

Sample development normally takes approximately 10–14 working days after the design, measurements, materials and artwork have been confirmed. Custom moulds, specially developed components or newly sourced materials may require additional development time.

After sample approval, production includes material inspection, panel cutting, sublimation or graphic application, reinforcement preparation, protector installation, stitching, closure assembly, branding and finishing.

Completed gloves are checked for size consistency, seam quality, finger movement, palm alignment, closure operation, graphic placement and left-to-right matching. They are then paired, packed according to the customer’s private-label requirements and prepared for worldwide export.

Frequently asked questions

Here are some common questions about our company.

Standard production generally begins from 50 pairs per design. The final MOQ depends on materials, colour combinations, sublimated graphics, moulded components, private-label branding and packaging requirements. Prototype sampling is available before confirming bulk production.

Motocross gloves are generally lighter, more flexible and more highly ventilated than road-riding gloves. They prioritise handlebar feel, grip and finger mobility, while road gloves often use heavier abrasion-resistant materials and more extensive impact protection.

Off-road gloves can be manufactured using stretch polyester, breathable mesh, micro-ripstop textiles, neoprene, synthetic suede, microfibre, goatskin leather and hybrid constructions. Material selection depends on the required weight, ventilation, durability and protection.

Yes. We can develop motocross gloves with lightweight single-layer synthetic suede or microfibre palms for direct handlebar feedback. Additional reinforcement can be applied around the thumb or other high-wear areas without unnecessarily increasing palm thickness.

Yes. Palm options include lightly padded sections, double-layer reinforcement, thumb overlays and abrasion-resistant material in selected wear zones. The level of reinforcement can be customised according to the intended riding application.

Yes. Off-road gloves can include flexible TPR, TPU, foam or other customer-approved protection around the knuckles and fingers. Protective components can be exposed, integrated into the graphics or positioned beneath the outer fabric.

Yes. Silicone grip printing can be applied to selected fingers or palm areas for improved contact with the levers. Conductive material can also be added to selected fingertips for use with compatible touchscreen devices.

Yes. We can develop coordinated motocross collections using matching colours, artwork, logos and private-label branding across gloves, jerseys and riding pants.

Yes. We can develop adult men’s, women’s, youth and children’s glove patterns. Finger length, palm width, wrist opening and overall proportions can be adjusted for the intended rider group and market.

Yes. We can develop off-road motorcycle gloves intended for an applicable EN 13594 protection level. The materials, seam construction, wrist-restraint system, protective components and completed gloves must be developed for the intended target. Final certification depends on successful testing by an accredited laboratory; EN 13594:2015 is the applicable European standard for motorcyclists’ protective gloves.
