Motorcycle Mid Layer Jacket Design & Manufacturing Guide
Motorcycle Midlayer Jackets for Thermal Insulation
Each prototype is evaluated beneath the intended outer jacket to assess fit, mobility, sleeve bulk, collar compatibility and overall comfort before bulk-production approval.
Materials & Insulation Performance
The performance of a motorcycle mid-layer depends on its balance of insulation, breathability, wind resistance, packability and garment weight. Depending on the intended climate, jackets can be manufactured using quilted nylon or polyester shells, fleece, stretch softshell fabrics, brushed knits and lightweight technical woven materials.
The final combination of fabric, insulation and lining is selected according to the intended riding climate, outer-shell compatibility, target garment weight and retail positioning.
OEM / ODM & Private Label Manufacturing
Glaze provides OEM, ODM and private-label manufacturing services for brands developing custom motorcycle mid-layer jackets. Customers may supply complete technical packs, measurement charts, reference garments, sketches or an initial product concept.
Men’s, women’s and unisex fits can be developed using the customer’s size chart or measurements created for the intended market. Prototype sampling allows the customer to evaluate warmth, layering fit, mobility, insulation distribution and overall appearance before approving bulk production.
Minimum Order Quantity & Production
Finished mid-layers are folded, packed according to the customer’s private-label requirements and prepared for worldwide export.
Frequently asked questions
Here are some common questions about our company.
Standard production generally begins from 50 pieces per design. The final MOQ depends on the selected fabrics, insulation, custom colours, quilting pattern, trims, branding and packaging requirements. Prototype sampling is available before bulk production.
A motorcycle mid-layer jacket is worn between a base layer and an outer riding jacket to provide additional insulation. It is generally designed to be lightweight, flexible and low in bulk so it can fit comfortably beneath protective motorcycle apparel.
A mid-layer is primarily developed for warmth and layering comfort. A motorcycle outer jacket is normally responsible for abrasion protection, armour placement and weather resistance. A mid-layer should not be marketed as a substitute for certified protective motorcycle outerwear unless it has been specifically designed and tested for that purpose.
Mid-layers can be manufactured using quilted nylon, polyester, fleece, stretch softshell, brushed knit fabrics and lightweight technical textiles. Material selection depends on the required warmth, breathability, stretch, packability and target garment weight.
Yes. Quilted jackets can be developed with horizontal, vertical, diamond or custom baffle patterns. Insulation can be distributed throughout the garment or concentrated around the chest and back.
Yes. Hybrid jackets can combine insulated front and back panels with stretch sleeves, side sections or underarm panels. This construction provides core warmth while improving mobility and reducing bulk beneath the outer jacket.
Yes. Insulation type, thickness and distribution can be selected according to the intended climate and warmth requirement. Lightweight, medium-weight and colder-weather constructions can be developed during the sampling stage.
Yes. We develop men’s, women’s and unisex mid-layer jackets in slim, regular and relaxed fits. Patterns can be adjusted according to the customer’s size chart and the dimensions of the intended outer motorcycle jacket.
Yes. Customers can customise fabric colours, quilting patterns, stretch panels, collars, pockets, zippers, labels and packaging. Branding options include embroidery, heat transfers, silicone logos, rubber badges and customised zipper pullers.
A mid-layer intended only to provide warmth beneath certified motorcycle apparel is generally not marketed as a standalone protective garment. EN 17092 requirements become relevant when a product is designed and marketed to provide independent motorcycle abrasion and impact protection.
